Fort Davis, established in 1854 as a frontier military fort, was tasked with ensuring the safety of the mail and travelers on the San Antonio-El Paso Road.

Florence, Texas, in northwestern Williamson County on State Highway 195, originally was known as Brooksville until a post office opened. The town was named Florence for one of two reasons, and no one knows which for sure. The first postmaster's hometown was Florence, Alabama, and the daughter of the town's first merchant was named Florence.

Flatonia, Texas is located in Fayette County on Interstate Highway 10, U.S. Highway 90 & the mainline of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Flatonia was established by combining two settlements, Flatonia and Oso, which moved to the railroad tracks that came through the area in 1874.
