Home Of The Salty Singing Convention.

Salty, Texas is located in southern Milam County on County Road 446. Salty was settled in 1860 and named after nearby Salty Creek. Violence erupted in the 1880s over barbed-wire fences. Designated a voting precinct in 1886, Salty received a post office in 1894. The church, built in 1871, was rebuilt in 1950. The post office closed in 1906.
