Otto, Texas

HISTORY

Welcome to Otto, Texas

The Population Was Close To 1,000 In The Mid-1920s.

Otto, Texas is located in Falls County on FM 1240. Otto formed in 1901 when two towns, Lonestar and Needmore, combined when the townspeople got word that railroad tracks connecting Marlin to Waco would come through town.

Otto quickly established a post office, and by 1914 there were three churches, a bank, and many other essential businesses. Unfortunately, the Great Depression and World War 2 siphoned off much of the town's population, and by 1967 the trains stopped running through town.

It might have been a mistake not to use the name Lonestar, but that's just my opinion. They also could have gone with Needmore Lonestar. Just sayin'.

Have you ever had the national beer of Texas, Lonestar?
