HISTORY
Welcome to Bulverde, Texas
The Front Porch of the Texas Hill Country.
Bulverde, Texas is located in Comal County on Cibolo Creek near the intersection of US Highway 281 and FM 1863. German immigrants first settled in the area in 1850, calling it Pieper Settlement, named for an early German pioneer. Mail for the entire community was delivered to a resident's home once a week from Smithson Valley, the closest post office, 10 miles away. A post office opened in 1879 and operated until 1919 with a name honoring an early landowner, Luciano Bulverdo. In 1959 a new post office was opened that still serves the community today, and Bulverde is growing as it is considered an exurb of San Antonio, Texas.
