Lake Victor, Texas

HISTORY

Welcome to Lake Victor, Texas

A Town Without A Lake.

Lake Victor, Texas is located in Burnet County on RM 2340. Believe it or not, Lake Victor is a town without a lake. When the railroad came through, around the turn of the 20th century, fill was used to level the tracks, and when there was enough rain, the excavated area would become a sometimes lake. Although the locals considered the borrow pit a lake, the town was prosperous for farmers and ranchers until The Great Depression.

The railroad tracks that created the town were abandoned in the 1950s. However, today Railroad Ave and Lake Ave remain and serve as reminders of the town’s unique heritage.

Could you imagine living in a town named after a lake that doesn’t exist and having to explain it to everyone?
